This weekend the Cambridge University Consort of Viols will be having a masterclass with former members of Fretwork as part of the CRASSH conference entitled ‘Chains of Gold: rhetoric and performance in the verse anthem’.

New players
We are delighted to welcome three new players to our group, ranging from beginner level to several years of playing experience.
The consort members have been taking a break from performance to concentrate on playing for leisure and other musical activities. However, we hope to bring you news of a very exciting potential project for the consort shortly..

Compline at St. Catharine's College
Following on from our recital as a smaller ensemble this afternoon, we shall be performing à5 again at St. Catharine’s College chapel this Thursday at 10pm as part of the compline service. The service will feature music by Byrd and Jenkins.

Update
In the latter half of lent term we once again took individual lessons from Jakub Michl and began planning our programme for Easter Term. We hope to perform some lunchtime recitals at the beginning of next term, so please keep an eye on the blog for further details.

Evensong at St. Benet's
We will be taking part in evensong at St. Bene’t’s church, Cambridge on the 18th March, performing sacred works (with choristers) by Martin Peerson. We might even sneak in some music by Thomas Tomkins too..

Next concert : Tomorrow
We’re gearing up for our next concert tomorrow in Jesus College Chapel at 8pm. New to our repertoire is Jenkins Fantasia à 5 no. 8, which should really suit the chapel’s acoustic. We hope to see you there!

Concert at St. John's College, Cambridge
Our first concert this academic year was an evening of hymns and songs for the church by Orlando Gibbons in the combination room of St. John’s College, Cambridge. We were joined by members of their chapel choir and directed by John Challenger, assistant organist at the college. We were fortunate to be given guidance by Bill Hunt of Fretwork Publishing, and we hope to collaborate with him...
